His Name is Newton and He is a Panther...
Long before Cameron made it to the NFL, he has dealt with adversity and the label of being a bad guy. After, going through, his juvenile trials and tribulations, at the University of Florida. Cam went to play junior college football and win a JC National Championship. Attention started to evolve around his name once again, but for a better cause.
Cam later enrolled at Auburn University, in Auburn, Alabama. Linking up with then offensive coordinator, Gus Malzone the two would eventually lead the school to an undefeated season capturing the SEC and BCS national Championship, all in the same season where "Superman", would be crowned as a Heisman.
During that season rival Mississippi State accused Cam of being involved in a scam, which after investigation, he was deemed innocent. Cam later went into the 2011 NFL draft where he was chosen, number one overall, to lead the Carolina Panthers as their starting quarterback. There, was never any question who the starter would be, from day one.
Surely a gentleman with such a storied past would not be left in the shadows of the media. Receiving both love and hate from media outlets and NFL fans across the nation, he continued on to his journey over the next few years, winning rookie of the year, taking multiple trips to the Pro Bowl, breaking records of legends that took them their entire career to set, becoming a NFL scoring leader, co-TD pass leader, Offensive Player of the Year, NFC Champion and league MVP, on his journey to the "Big Game 50" to face a poster child, fellow SEC comrade and overall pick, Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.
Surely, anyone with a brain knows that, as the days lead up to the "Big Game", the media will only do what they have done for the last four years and that is, keep Cam at the topic of discussion. We are expecting them to make him the villain, as he is facing Archie's son...
Is there a coincidence to why he wears number 1, his name is Newton and he plays for, "The Panthers"? I don't know, I can't say, but I am eager to see what tricks are thrown his way leading up to the final game day of the season.
Being, an Auburn fan, I am in full support of this brother and wish him much success as he sets to make this the most exciting bowl in the history of the game. If you don't like his dancing then keep him out of pay dirt. If you hate that he blesses children with touchdown footballs, stop him from scoring. Don't hate him because he is charitable, talented and has rhythm...
Cameron Newton, an American Hero!
